Pride Month

Why Pride? Why June?

Pride is “the consciousness of one’s own dignity” and “a product of praise, independent self-reflection, and a fulfilled feeling of belonging.”

We celebrate Lgbtq+ fest during the month of June to honor the Homosexual Liberation Movement.

On June 28, , police raided the well-liked Stonewall Inn queer bar in the West Village in New York Metropolis. Although raids often took place, that night the patrons fought back and began the six-day Stonewall Riots led by Marsha P. Johnson. The clamor was simple: the LGBTQ+ community demanded to have places (like the Stonewall Inn) where people can express their sexual orientation without fear.

Defying Norms: A

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our life as we navigate a planet with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the nature. We encourage our traveling group to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to visit for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be guarded, and look out for each other!

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past few decades and much of the progress in awareness is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that have taken place in cities around the world.

The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Gay Lgbtq+ fest, Sao Paulo Gay Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that allow discrimin
