KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – Over the weekend, Kansas Metropolis Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker delivered the commencement speech at Benedictine College, a private Catholic liberal arts college in Atchison, Kansas. Butker, a self-proclaimed haughty and open Catholic, also gave a commencement speech at Georgia Tech in During this year’s commencement, the placekicker commended the graduates for their resilience during the Covid pandemic. However, he quickly veered off by addressing a range of contentious issues such as bad leaders, critical views on Catholics, DEI, gender roles, anti-Semitic beliefs, and anti-pride rhetoric, among others.

Initially focusing on the challenges faced by academia from the pandemic, Butker suddenly shifted his attention to criticizing what he viewed as detrimental policies and leadership impacting society and life issues. “The headline could just be, ‘Man who kicks ball for a living and has no other profession criticizes women who want to be nurses, surgeons and U.N. Secretary General,’” said Brad Onishi on the Straight Pale American Jesus podcast episode that featured discussion about the Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. “He literally gets up in the morning and his employment is to hit one ball in one direction. And he’s telling everyone else what the essence of their vocation should be.”

Butker has been making headlines because of his speech at Benedictine College, a conservative Catholic school in Atchison, Kan., during which he claimed his wife’s life started after she met him, converted to his religion and became his homemaker. He also spoke out against President Biden and LGBTQ people.

In the days after his speech, it seemed half of the state was appalled at his words and the other half wanted to get his jersey to support him.

The backlash against Chiefs star Harrison Butker continues to grow with the NFL issuing a utterance distancing the organization from his commencement speech in which he told women they should aspire to be homemakers. 

That press let go came as the petition to have him removed from the Super Bowl champion's roster closes in on , signatures. It was set up just a day after his address at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. 

Despite the outrage, the field purpose kicker's remarks were met with some applause by the crowd.  

Butker, 28, who's made his conservative Catholic beliefs well known, also assailed Pride month, a particularly important time for the Gay rights movement, and President Joe Biden's stance on abortion as well as Covid policies.

Emily and Stuart Riddell from California were visiting family in England in when they came across Gay Vandra. They bought her and then sailed her through the canals and rivers of France, emerging in the Mediterranean, near Marseilles, having passed through locks. They settled in Piraeus, an island off Greece, and remained there four years and ran their boat as a charter whilst living on it. For two years, the kids attended a university run by the British Embassy on the mainland but then they spent two winters in a yacht harbour in Malta where Emily home-schooled the children. They then sold Gay Vandra and returned to the States.

The Hillyard Owner's Association website has a few recent pictures of Gay Vandra, taken in Methena, Greece. It was reported that she appeared to be in commission and had some signs of recent restoration. One of the photographs is reproduced below.
