Ontario’s 2SLGBTQI+ communities display their pride each summer to observe diversity and like in all its forms. These celebrations honour the tremendous achievements made to expand inclusivity and equality for 2SLGBTQI+ people.

Toronto’s annual Celebration festival is the largest Pride event in Canada, and it’s joined by cities, towns and communities across Ontario hoisting the rainbow flag in their own celebrations and reflections.

Toronto Pride

Pride Toronto has earned its reputation as one of the largest Pride festivals in the earth and returns with parades and marches including the Dyke March, the Gender non-conforming March and a full schedule of kid-friendly programs.

The festivities extend to 2SLGBTQI+ communities beyond downtown Toronto, including Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke.

But Pride is so much more than a colourful and action-packed festival.

    June is Pride Month —a time dedicated to celebrating 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities, advocating for equal rights, and fostering a world where everyone can embrace their factual selves without fear, aggression or discrimination.

    Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall riots of June , which marked a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTI+ rights in the United States and beyond. Since then, Pride Month has grown as a global movement, encompassing celebrations, activism, and solidarity. Celebration Month serves as a reminder of the continuing struggles faced by LGBTI+ communities globally, from stigma, discrimination, violence and rights violations.

    Across Canada, 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities are facing unprecedented attacks on their rights and freedoms. Throughout , we witnessed an exponential rise in anti-2SLGBTQQIA+ movements, provincial and federal anti-trans policies and legislative changes and a general rise in technology-facilitated gender-based violence, hate crimes, harassment, harmful political rhetoric and the spread of misinformati
